I DREAMED
A DREAM
BY THE
OLD CANAL

The Navigation Tavern was bought by Kevin O’Donnell in 1998. Over the next 20 years the pub was extended with rooms and a large function room added.

The Navigation developed a reputation for serving fine real ales from every corner of the country.

Also offering a range of Theakstons house beers it was soon a Theakstons Ambassador Pub.

Over the years The Navi became famous for its regular beers festivals and The Navifest music festival that started in 2013.

REBORN
IN
MAYHEM

In the winter of 2019, it was decided that it was time for The Navi to get a well deserved make over. A plan was in place. With a focus on the O’Donnell family heritage from Donegal and the story of the imported Irish Navvies who dug the canals of England, a new identity was developed.

Then came the floods of early 2020 followed by the pandemic. It was going to be tough.

Along with a new identity, the interior of the pub was overhauled and new beer garden built by the canal side.

While the cask ales would remain, cocktails and a wide range of Irish & Scottish Whiskeys were introduced through a partner ship with Diageo. Through all the adversity the plan worked and the pub was ready for reopening on the 4th July 2020.
